Wisdom teeth, also known as “third molars,” are the last of your permanent set of teeth to appear. Some people never get wisdom teeth, but those who do can expect them between the ages of 17, and 21. Since they do come in late, there’s not a lot of space for them, which can cause problems.

If a developing wisdom tooth doesn’t have room to come through completely, it may be sideways, or even worse, impacted. Oral surgery, with sedation, is necessary to extract impacted wisdom teeth.

Some Denver dental professionals advise taking out wisdom teeth to prevent against problems yet to come.
