Denver Dental Care: Cold Sores vs. Canker Sores

Did you know that cold sores and canker sores aren’t the same thing? Cold sores are caused by the herpes simplex virus and consist of red blisters that form on and/or around the lips (sometimes they occur inside of the mouth, but not very often). Getting a cold sore can often be quite painful and can last up to 10 days. Luckily, cold sores don’t normally leave a scar. Ibuprofen and a topical medication can be used for pain, if necessary.

Canker sores are not caused by a virus and tend to appear on the inside of the mouth. They’re usually not as painful as a cold sore and go away in less time. If you tend to get a lot of cold sores, it’s a really good idea to call and make an appointment with your dentist today. In Denver Dental Care services are given top priority. This means that if you live in or near the Denver area and need Denver Dental Care services, you’re lucky because we have dentists who truly care.
